Guns evolved. Auto-targeting and "smart bullets"; bullets that can change direction, split apart to hit two targets, detonate, or just incapacitate became the norm.
So too, did counter measures evolve. Jammers, switchers and cloakers all attempt to fool or deactivate these weapons by sending jamming frequencies, sensor ghosts or by cloaking the element the smart weapon keys to.
As with any arms race, having the latest upgrades are key to success.

Just read an article that made me think about a corporation that has profited from the revolution which is trying to keep the conflict going. He/she/it previously supported the rebels and is now supporting the Cassad insurgents.

I see it. With more people in the court...Royal guards maybe, Cassad and the Emperor looking vibrant and strong. But with a futuristic style.
