Home of Sword and Soul

Sanouguè, a Malian film by Boubacar Sidibe, tells the story of a Princess who leaves her hometown, in the care of her father’s Griot, on a journey to find and marry her suitor. Whilst on her journey, she learns of the death of her entire home town - including her parents, the King and Queen. As the grief-stricken Princess continues her journey, tension breaks out between her entourage as they fight over rations and resources managed by the strict and selfish griot. Although she makes it to her new home, the woman in charge of her well-being, along with the griot, have stripped her of her jewels and titles, disguising her as a servant, threatening her with death if she is to reveal the truth about her identity to anyone. [Bambara with French subtitles]

Me too! I kinda like following along anyway, taking in the language etc. I used to watch Asian dramas that way sometimes and it was fun.
