Movie based off the Brazilian history of slavery and the resistance to it by the great maroons Gangazumba and Zumbi with their establishment of the great Quilombo Palmares (a sovereign nation)!

I remember seeing this on the PBS station out here. And enjoyed it! This film and Black Orpheus expanded the tourist Carnivale vision I had till then been blinded with.
